Privacy policy

Normal Computer Co. · Last updated October 12, 2026

This Privacy Policy describes our policies regarding the information we collect or receive about our customers. It is applicable to this website (https://normalcomputer.co), as well as all our other applications, services, or downloads.

Although by default our products are free, without accounts, advertising, or trackers, and we never sell any of your data, we have established this privacy policy ("Privacy Policy") to let you know the kinds of personal information we may otherwise gather, why, and how you can opt-out. If you have concerns, we can always be contacted via email at contact@normalcomputer.co

The short version

Your settings stay in your browser. Products that make complex modifications to how your browser renders websites we do not control (like Pagination and UseRedNet) send basic, non-personally identifiable telemetry to us in order to help identify when underlying changes to those third-party websites break our services. You may opt-out of this telemetry at any time. No other data is collected at any point unless you opt to send us an error report or fill out a contact form.

What stays on your device

Apart from the telemetry described below, settings and data about how you use Normal Computer Co. products are never tracked or collected by us or any third party. This includes the list of domains you give our products permission to modify, the various configuration choices you make inside each product, your browsing activity with our products active, and anything else about how or when you use our products. (If you use Chrome sync, Chrome copies Grayscale Filter's settings to your other signed-in browsers, as it does for any extension that uses sync.)

Product telemetry and automatic error reporting

Some of our products rely on making complex modifications to how your browser renders third-party websites. When this is the case, regular changes made by those third-party websites to their own services may break how our products and services work. Today, the Normal Computer Co. products this scenario pertains to are Pagination and UseRedNet.

These products automatically collect basic telemetry and error reporting to help us maintain their functionality and stay resilient to changes made by third parties. These telemetry and error reports do not include your cookies or anything about your browsing data, but they may include the web browser you use and its major version (e.g. Chrome 141), and your operating system. When errors are detected, it may include generic pointers to parts ("selectors") of a third-party website where our products failed.

Telemetry and reports never contain the URLs or web addresses of pages you were browsing or any sort of unique user ID for you or your browser. We use Datadog to collect and analyze these reports, and they are deleted after 15 days. Datadog receives your IP address as part of the connection; we erase it before a report is stored.

You may opt-out of this telemetry at any time by turning reports off. Simply right-click the extension's icon, choose Options, and untick "Send breakage reports". Turning this setting off means that no data or reports will be sent back to Normal Computer Co.

Manual problem reports

Links to "Report a problem" inside our products open a form on this website, carrying the extension's version, how it was installed, and your settings for that extension. In some cases, this may also include the URL of the site you were browsing when the error occurred. None of this data is collected, transmitted, or stored unless you choose to submit the form on our website. If you submit a manual problem report, we may also collect browser and device details, such as screen size, languages and time zone. You can audit all data collected by the form before choosing to submit via the "Details sent with this report" panel. You may also add a description, screenshots, and an email address if you want a reply. The optional form on the page that opens when you remove one of our extensions works the same way: nothing is sent unless you submit it.

Reports are stored in our own accounts with the services we use to run Normal Computer Co. (Google for email and storage, GitHub for tracking bugs). They are never sold or shared with anyone else, and can be deleted upon request.

Other third party data collection

In addition to our products, the Normal Computer Co. website and newsletter are powered by third-party vendors who collect basic analytics data like your IP address and browser details when you request pages from them. We do not create or store cookies when you browse our website. These third-party vendors are strictly limited to:

Chrome Web Store Limited Use

The use of information received from our extensions adheres to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. We use it only for each extension's single purpose and to fix problems, and never sell it or use it for advertising or credit decisions.

Children

Our products are not made for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect anything from them. If a child has sent us something, email us and we will delete it.

Changes and contact

If what a product keeps or sends changes, we update this page and its date before that version ships. Normal Computer Co. is run by Ryan Lucht. Questions or requests: contact@normalcomputer.co.
